A gathering to slow down, create with intention, and remember the wisdom carried through the hands.
About the Gathering
Before knowledge was written down, it was woven, shaped, carved, dyed, sung and shared from hand to hand.
For thousands of years, craft was more than a practical skill—it was a way of understanding the world, living in relationship with nature, and passing wisdom from one generation to the next.
During these four days we invite you to step into this slower rhythm.
Through traditional crafts, storytelling, shared meals and time on the land, we explore what it means to create with presence, curiosity and care.
This gathering is not about perfection or productivity.
It is about remembering.
What We’ll Explore
Together we will explore different ancestral crafts and creative practices, each offering its own way of connecting with the living world.
Traditional Weaving
Discover traditional weaving techniques while learning the stories, symbols and ways of seeing the world that are woven into every thread.
Spindle Spinning
Transform raw fibre into yarn and experience one of humanity’s oldest crafts—an invitation into rhythm, patience and attention.
Natural Dyeing
Learn how plants, roots, bark and flowers become colour, and discover the quiet alchemy of working with natural dyes.
Clay Ceremony
Meet the earth through your hands. Working with clay becomes a practice of presence, creativity and relationship.
Crafting with Natural Materials
Create with fibres, wood, seeds, stone and other gifts of the landscape, discovering what becomes possible when we collaborate with nature.
Storytelling
Stories accompany every craft. Together we share myths, traditions and personal experiences that deepen our understanding of making.
Short Films
We’ll watch a selection of carefully chosen short films that invite conversation around craft, ecology, culture and our relationship with the living world.
Nature Connection
Walk, observe, gather and spend time on the land, learning directly from the more-than-human world.
A Typical Day
Morning begins slowly with breakfast and time to arrive.
Throughout the day we’ll alternate between practical workshops, storytelling, shared meals and moments of rest.
There will be space for conversations, walks, spontaneous creativity and evenings around the fire.
Rather than following a strict schedule, we allow enough spaciousness for the gathering to unfold naturally.
Who Is This Gathering For?
This gathering is for anyone who longs to reconnect with the wisdom of the hands.
No previous experience is needed.
Whether you’re an artist, maker, educator, gardener, student, or simply curious about traditional crafts, you are warmly welcome.
Come with open hands and an open heart.
The Place
Nestled in the hills of northern Italy, Canta Volpe offers a beautiful setting to slow down and reconnect with nature.
Here we cook together, work outdoors, gather around the fire and let the rhythm of the land guide our days.
Food & Accommodation
Simple, nourishing vegetarian meals will be shared together.
Accommodation is available on site in different options, allowing everyone to become part of the temporary village we create during these days.
